gardenimprovement

We’ve all seen the programmes on TV showing rogue traders at their worst, and in this day and age, none of us can afford to be ripped off when it comes to home/garden improvements. Steve Bentley, Managing Director of Archley Landscape Solutions offers some of his top tips and advice when it comes to choosing your tradesmen.

Steve is in his 30th year of trading, so knows a thing or two about what to look for in your tradesman, and some of the things to be aware of too.

We are all understandably price driven in today’s climate, but remember the old saying ‘if something looks too good to be true, it usually is’. This applies to any work you
may have done around your home and garden.

  • Choose a reputable company for any major works like building, driveways and garden landscaping. Find them in local newspapers like the Bury Free Press or the Bury St Edmunds Directory.
  • Get comparable quotes but look out for any that are much cheaper than others (this is not necessarily a good thing).
  • Recommendation is the best form of advertising, so ask around your family, friends or neighbours for suppliers they would recommend.

For example a testimonial that we received recently:

“We will be delighted to tell anyone who will listen what a good job Archley did and how highly we would recommend you”

Ask prospective suppliers questions:

How long have they been trading? Do they offer a guarantee? How long for? Are they a member of a professional association? Are they using quality materials and equipment? Do they have the relevant insurance and health & safety documents?

Steve would be happy to answer any queries you may have. You can contact him on 07860 577557.
